About carimport.ie

One clear answer before you buy: is this car actually cheaper once it’s registered in Ireland?

Importing a car means adding up VRT, possibly customs duty and VAT, transport and inspection fees, and the official VRT figure only arrives after you’ve bought the car. This calculator puts every cost on one page, using Revenue’s published rates, and labels which numbers are official rates, which are estimates and which are your own inputs.

Not Revenue

carimport.ie is independent. Revenue sets the official open market selling price (OMSP) and the VRT due when your car is registered. Always check with Revenue before you commit.

How the site is funded

The calculator is free. In future we may link to services such as vehicle history checks or shipping, and earn a commission. Those links will always be labelled, and they never change the calculation.

Corrections

If a rate has changed, let us know with a link to the Revenue page.
